One of My Greatest Success Secrets

In my line of work, feast or famine best describes our business, or maybe I should say flood or drought. Four months out of the year we hardly take time to breathe at the resort, much less take lunch. But when the season ends, it’s dead, and there’s no resurrection until the following spring.

I manage a river resort in Missouri called Ozark Outdoors Riverfront Resort. By national standards we are one of the largest in the country, and every Friday and Saturday, between Memorial and Labor Day, we scramble to check in a few thousand people. But come mid-September, you can’t offer enough incentive to get most people on the water. Because of the polar opposite sides of this business, coupled with a diverse career background, I’ve learned a lot about how to make yourself valuable on the job.

All of my secrets to success are found in the Bible. Whether you believe in its authority or not, it’s hard to refute the power of its principles. One of my greatest secrets? Being a Joseph to my employer and/or clients. For years I’ve asked God to prosper the work of my hands so that those around me flourish. And He has.

There are many simple wisdoms buried in the ancient text of the Bible, often referring to work. One person at a time, we can make a difference in the economy of the world if we unearth its valuable insights. I’ll keep digging and I hope you do also. Grab a shovel — greater secrets await our discovery.
